The new GDP pharma warehouse of VTS is fully temperature controlled. There are five different temperature levels in the warehouse. In order to always keep the different temperature zones at the right temperature the climate control technology is very inmportant in the building.
The system and the installations
The system is based on two CO2 cooling and freezing installations, each with a capacity of 600kW. These installations control 74 evaporators, spread over various storage halls. In this way we guarantee the humidity and temperature requirements that apply to the storage of pharmaceuticals. For example, a 24/7 temperature validation is required of the five different levels of -45, -40, -25, +5 and +20 degrees Celsius. To guarantee these continuously validated (GDP) temperature requirements, the entire installation is redundant, with the two cooling and freezing installations serving as a back-up for each other. The building will be fully validated and taken into use in mid-January.
