Proud of what we deliver today. Caring about what we pass on.
Everything we do revolves around one conviction: what we store and transport can be a matter of life and death. That is why we invest in sustainability, so that medicines reach their destination safely, on time and without a hitch, both today and tomorrow. As a family-run business, VTS takes responsibility for the next generation. Together with customers and supply chain partners, we work every day to deliver logistics that are not only reliable but also sustainable.
Sustainable logistics. The right way forward.
For us, sustainability is not a choice, but an integral part of how we work and create value. It is one of VTS’s strategic pillars and is embedded in everything we do – from transport to warehousing and from innovation to our role as an employer. We are constantly working on more efficient processes and sustainable solutions that address the challenges of tomorrow. Our ambition is clear:
“To become the most sustainable and reliable logistics service provider and the best employer in pharmaceutical logistics.”
To make a real difference, we focus on the issues that matter. Together, these form the core of our sustainability approach, helping us to prioritise and invest strategically in sustainable progress.
Our 10 focus areas:
Company emissions and energy consumption
Waste and circularity
Employee wellbeing
Employee safety
Talent and development
Diversity and inclusion
Consumer health and quality
Local community engagement
Innovation
Responsibility throughout the supply chain
Sustainability is an integral part of our logistics chain. We have our performance independently assessed by EcoVadis, where VTS was awarded a bronze medal. We are also registered with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), which enables us to underpin our CO₂ reduction targets systematically and in accordance with international standards.

Our objectives
Sustainability only becomes valuable when it is measurable. That is why VTS works with clear objectives and ensures transparency regarding progress. This ambition has been translated into concrete actions and results, ranging from CO₂ reduction and circularity to employee satisfaction. In this way, we demonstrate what VTS stands for, the steps we are taking and the areas where we continue to improve.
CO₂ reduction (climate)
42% reduction in Scope 1 & 2 emissions by 2030 (compared to 2024)
A 52% reduction in Scope 3 emissions by 2030
Net zero by 2050 (at least a 90% reduction)
Progress towards 2025: ± 11% CO₂ reduction achieved compared with 2024
Circularity
At least 70% recyclable packaging by 2030
Progress towards 2025: 83.3% of our packaging is recyclable
Staff

This is how we make a sustainable impact
Our impact goes beyond mere figures.
Climate-neutral and energy-efficient warehouses (such as BREEAM Excellent-certified buildings)
Making the vehicle fleet more sustainable through the use of alternative fuels (HVO) and electric vehicles
Optimised routes and increased load factors to reduce emissions
A healthy, safe working environment for our staff, where vitality plays a major role
Working with customers and partners to develop sustainable solutions throughout the supply chain
Cindy Verhoeven Sustainability & Energy Manager
As a family-run business, we take our role in society seriously. We look beyond the present and feel a sense of responsibility for the world we will pass on to future generations.
“For us, sustainability is not an obligation, but a conscious choice.”
Sustainability award
VTS has been awarded the Sustainability Award in the Top 100 Logistics Service Providers 2026. This recognition confirms our ongoing commitment to sustainable pharmaceutical logistics: through concrete innovations in technology, digitalisation, smart algorithms, AI, electric transport and the use of HVO, VTS reduces its emissions year on year.
For us, sustainability is not just a standalone ambition, but an integral part of how we work: from energy-efficient warehouses and cleaner transport to the continuous optimisation of our processes. In this way, we contribute every day to a reliable and future-proof supply chain.
Transparent and reliable: our reporting
Although we are not obliged to do so, VTS believes it is important to be transparent about our performance in terms of sustainability. That is why our annual progress is reported in a sustainability report in accordance with the CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive) and ESRS standards. The report shows where we stand, the steps we are taking and where we can still improve.
